Insulators for iron posts

Metal post installations demand insulators that grip the post profile without slipping under wire tension and resist galvanic corrosion where polymer meets steel in wet conditions. Gemi Elettronica offers two models for iron posts — covering round tube and flat T-bar profiles — both manufactured in Italy and CE certified for permanent outdoor use. Order Gemi iron post insulators in packs from 10 to 100 units. Factory pricing, no minimum order, UK delivery in 24–48h. The Gemi technical team can advise on insulator model selection based on your specific post profile and conductor type.

Insulators for round metal posts

The round-post model clips over the post head and clicks into a secure position using a snap-fit geometry that prevents rotation and axial movement. The polypropylene compound used for this insulator is selected specifically for its resistance to stress cracking in cold temperatures, ensuring the snap-fit does not fail during winter installation when the polymer is at its most brittle.

Insulators for T-bar and flat metal posts

T-bar posts are the most common metal post type on UK farms, and Gemi's T-bar insulator fits the standard profile without modification. It installs by pushing onto the post wing at the chosen height and locking with a quarter-turn. Compatible with polywire up to 6 mm², flat tape up to 40 mm and braided rope conductors, it covers every conductor type in the Gemi electric fence range.

Corrosion-resistant materials

Both iron post insulator models are manufactured from UV-stabilised polymer compounds that do not react with galvanised steel coating under prolonged wet contact. This eliminates the premature failure mode — insulator cracking at the metal contact point — seen with standard-grade plastics when used on metal posts in exposed UK conditions.

Questions and Answers
The Gemi electric fence - 100% Made in Italy - is used to ward off wild animals such as wild boars, deer, foxes, etc. The purpose of electric fences is to protect the territory from unsightly invasions. It is also used to contain animals such as cows, sheep, pigs etc. It has nothing to do with hunting. We have all the legal certificates available to produce and sell electric fences. This is the only legal solution for those who want to protect their plantations.
The electric fence for animals is neither dangerous for people nor for animals. As with everything, even for electric fences there is a standard that establishes the values to be respected. The fence energiser is a product that emits intermittent pulses with a low amperage.
To create an electric fence for animals you need: a Gemi energiser - 100% Made in Italy - for fences that carries the current to the fence, an electrified conductor wire for the fence and insulators for electrified fences screwed on the posts to hold the wire.
Grounding is a fundamental thing for the functionality of the electric fence for animals, so it is recommended to do it correctly. To have the total discharge of current by the energiser, it is necessary to make the grounding by inserting 3 galvanized poles of 1 meter in the ground. They must be positioned 3 meters apart, 80 cm in the wet ground and 20 cm outside, and then connect them with the yellow cable. Together with the electric fence, we supply only 1 meter of cable that must be connected to the first pole. It is recommended to do it where there is the presence of vegetation, therefore a moist soil. Arid soil is not conductive. According to the tests carried out, placing 3 poles in any type of terrain, there will be no problem with functionality. If you put only one stake, the power of the current felt will be less than its range and the animals will be able to cross the fence.
For a B12 energiser it is sufficient to use a 12V 40Ah car battery. The autonomy, if there is no dispersion in the electric fence, is about 10/12 days. Otherwise it lasts less.
If the current is far from the electric fence, for your Gemi energiser - 100% Made in Italy -, we have the high-voltage crossing cable that can work on the surface or underground, without discharging. With this cable it is possible to carry current on the fence, without any dispersion. The cable for electric fences can also be used to join two fences, then connect one end to a first fence and the other end to a second fence, when there is little distance between one fence and another.
Without going around the dead circle of the insulator for electric fences, otherwise dispersion is created. Gemi electric fence insulators have been designed for this purpose.
To check if there is current on the electric fence for animals, just bring the tip of a screwdriver with an insulated handle a few mm away from the fence wire. The moment you hear a ticking, it means that there is current on the electric fence.
An energizer cannot be kept outdoors. It must be kept indoors to prevent damage from the weather. In order to discharge all its current, it must be earthed by inserting 3 galvanized 1 meter stakes into the ground. They must be placed 3 m apart, 80 cm in the ground (wet) and 20 cm outside, and then connected with the yellow-green cable. The device has a red positive cable at its output which is connected to the fence and a yellow-green cable which is connected to the first ground stake. Never connect two electrifiers to the same wire, as the two impulses may cancel each other out, causing problems. You can connect two electrifiers to the same fence, but keep them on two separate lines of wire.
