12V Battery Energisers

Where mains power is unavailable, a 12V battery energiser is the professional solution for remote paddocks, rotational grazing and temporary electric fence installations. Gemi Elettronica has manufactured its 12V models in Italy since 1983, designing each unit to operate reliably through demanding British weather — sustained rain, frost and summer heat included. Gemi B/12 energisers are available at factory prices with no minimum order. UK delivery in 24–48h. Technical advice on battery capacity selection and solar panel sizing is available from the Gemi pre-sale team before purchase.

Compatible with car batteries, packs and solar panels

Gemi's 12V energisers accept power from a standard 12V car battery, a dedicated twin-battery rechargeable kit, or a Gemi solar panel connected directly to the energiser terminals. Battery life depends on fence length and vegetation contact, but a fully charged 70Ah car battery typically powers the fence for several weeks under normal conditions, making weekend or weekly checking sufficient for most livestock applications.

Ideal for rotational and temporary grazing

The compact, lightweight housing of the Gemi B/12 series makes it simple to move between paddocks without disconnecting and reconnecting fence lines. Rotational grazing systems — where animals are shifted between pasture sections every few days — benefit directly from this portability: the energiser travels with the temporary fence rather than requiring a fixed installation at each location.

Dual-power flexibility

The B/12 model includes an optional mains adaptor, allowing the same unit to run from a 230V supply when one becomes available, then revert to battery when the fence moves to a remote area. This dual-source capability maximises the investment in a single energiser across multiple farm scenarios.

CE certified, weatherproof housing

All Gemi 12V energisers carry CE certification and surge protection. The sealed housing is rated for permanent outdoor exposure with no additional weatherproofing required. UK delivery in 24–48h, direct from the factory at manufacturer's prices.

Questions and Answers
The Gemi electric fence - 100% Made in Italy - is used to ward off wild animals such as wild boars, deer, foxes, etc. The purpose of electric fences is to protect the territory from unsightly invasions. It is also used to contain animals such as cows, sheep, pigs etc. It has nothing to do with hunting. We have all the legal certificates available to produce and sell electric fences. This is the only legal solution for those who want to protect their plantations.
The electric fence for animals is neither dangerous for people nor for animals. As with everything, even for electric fences there is a standard that establishes the values to be respected. The fence energiser is a product that emits intermittent pulses with a low amperage.
To create an electric fence for animals you need: a Gemi energiser - 100% Made in Italy - for fences that carries the current to the fence, an electrified conductor wire for the fence and insulators for electrified fences screwed on the posts to hold the wire.
With the current model we supply: grounding cable and cable with tweezers to be connected to the fence. With the dual power model, we provide a 220V power supply, cables for connections to the car battery (positive and negative), a grounding cable and a cable with tweezers to be connected to the fence.
Grounding is a fundamental thing for the functionality of the electric fence for animals, so it is recommended to do it correctly. To have the total discharge of current by the energiser, it is necessary to make the grounding by inserting 3 galvanized poles of 1 meter in the ground. They must be positioned 3 meters apart, 80 cm in the wet ground and 20 cm outside, and then connect them with the yellow cable. Together with the electric fence, we supply only 1 meter of cable that must be connected to the first pole. It is recommended to do it where there is the presence of vegetation, therefore a moist soil. Arid soil is not conductive. According to the tests carried out, placing 3 poles in any type of terrain, there will be no problem with functionality. If you put only one stake, the power of the current felt will be less than its range and the animals will be able to cross the fence.
For a B12 energiser it is sufficient to use a 12V 40Ah car battery. The autonomy, if there is no dispersion in the electric fence, is about 10/12 days. Otherwise it lasts less.
If the current is far from the electric fence, for your Gemi energiser - 100% Made in Italy -, we have the high-voltage crossing cable that can work on the surface or underground, without discharging. With this cable it is possible to carry current on the fence, without any dispersion. The cable for electric fences can also be used to join two fences, then connect one end to a first fence and the other end to a second fence, when there is little distance between one fence and another.
To check if there is current on the electric fence for animals, just bring the tip of a screwdriver with an insulated handle a few mm away from the fence wire. The moment you hear a ticking, it means that there is current on the electric fence.
The signal lights that flash alternately on the energiser for electric fences indicate the correct operation of the appliance.
An energiser cannot be outdoors. It must be kept indoors to prevent it from being damaged by bad weather.
