Electric Fence Rope

Electric fence rope — sometimes called polyrope or stranded cord — offers a middle ground between the thin flexibility of polywire and the wide face of tape, making it the preferred conductor for rotational grazing systems, uneven terrain and situations where a visible but compact conductor is required. Gemi Elettronica's braided rope construction combines UV-stabilised polyethylene outer fibres with stainless steel and copper conducting strands that provide low resistance across the full length of the fence. Gemi electric fence rope is stocked in standard lengths for immediate UK dispatch. Order direct from the manufacturer for factory pricing and 24–48h delivery. The Gemi pre-sale team can advise on reel compatibility and insulator selection for rope applications.

Advantages over polywire on uneven ground

On hillside pastures, woodland edges and riverside meadows where fence lines follow irregular contours, rope's greater diameter and braided construction provide better resistance to lateral wind movement than polywire of equivalent cross-section. The rope maintains its shape under tension rather than kinking or twisting, which simplifies installation on posts at varying heights and reduces the risk of the conductor touching intermediate vegetation.

Rotational and temporary grazing applications

Electric fence rope is wound and unwound quickly using standard Gemi fence reels designed for the rope diameter in use. A single operator can deploy a temporary paddock boundary of several hundred metres in under thirty minutes, relocate the fence at the next grazing rotation and store the rope on the reel without the tangling that can occur with flat tape in windy conditions during retrieval.

Conductor specification and compatibility

Gemi electric fence rope is available in diameters sized to work with standard Gemi ring insulators for wooden posts and tape insulators for metal posts. Compatible with all Gemi energiser models from the smallest 12V battery unit to the largest 230V mains professional model.

Questions and Answers
The basic model has a suction capacity of 2500 m³/h, a 3-year warranty and can withstand up to 300 degrees. The professional model can withstand up to 700 degrees (therefore also in case of a chimney fire) and is recommended if you have a chimney of less than 3 meters. It also has a 6-year warranty and sucks in 3800 m³/h. The steel model is built entirely in Aisi 304 stainless steel, a material that ensures greater resistance to corrosion and saltiness and therefore over time. It has a suction power of 3800m³/h and a resistance of up to 700°, guaranteed for 8 years. The top of the range offered by Gemi is the professional copper model, resistant up to 700°, with a 10-year warranty and capable of sucking up 3800 m³/h. The stainless steel fan resists corrosion and saltiness. It is fully painted on the outside (including the base) and is therefore suitable for those looking for a more aesthetically pleasing product.
Our electric smoke extractor has a 6-speed regulator, so you only need to set it to speeds of 1-2 to help extract smoke naturally, but not heat. Basically, at the first two speeds, we are not altering in any way the normal operation of a fireplace, which would normally disperse a very small amount of heat in the smoke rising in the flue pipe. The Gemi chimney fan sucks up the smoke that would otherwise go into the house and therefore, certainly, would not produce any heat sources for the indoor environment. It is clear that if the chimney fan does not operate at the sixth speed (usually at this speed it is used to change the air in rooms, to help start fires or to suck up the ashes), with its 2500m³/h(basic) - 3800m³/h(pro) it will be so powerful that it will also suck up the heat, because it will increase the speed of combustion of the wood and consequently partially reduce the heat. Scientific studies have shown that the Gemi smoke extractor can control heat loss, so it is advisable to use a chimney to prevent heat loss. This can be seen in the millions of satisfied customers all over the world since 1983, when the first Gemi chimney fan was created.
The function of the smoke extractor is to regulate the draught of the chimney, in order to solve the problem of smoke in the chimney, oven, stove, barbecue and to reproduce the natural draught of the chimney.
The assembly of the chimney smoke extractor is do-it-yourself. Watch the tutorial video on the product sheets to assembly the chimney fan. If you encounter problems with the installation of the extractor fan, you can ask for the help of an electrician or a bricklayer. If you have any doubts about the installation of the product (e.g. connection of wires, speed regulator, etc.) our specialist technicians will be at your disposal via email, chat or telephone.
If you have a square chimney with a pipe of the same height as the masonry, you must first close the gap between the pipe and the masonry and then install the chimney fan directly on the masonry. Similarly, if the pipe is only a few centimeters (or inches) high, the pipe must be brought to the same height as the masonry. In this situation you have to buy the model of chimney fan with square base, adjustable also for rectangular chimney.
It is possible, but you have to consider the dimensions of the chimney fan. The installation of the smoke exhauster can be done in two ways: eliminating the cap of the chimney and then installing the chimney fan, or inserting inside the chimney the chimney smoke extractor, ordering in this case the smoke extractor without the cap.
Yes, it is possible. There are two ways to make the electrical connection: with the 3 x 1.5 cable (to be run outside the chimney up to the speed regulator) in order to extend the first metre attached to the chimney fan. Or you can make an internal connection to the chimney with our high-temperature resistant cable, which you can purchase separately by selecting the desired quantity in the drop-down menu according to how many meters you need.
There is no time limit. The chimney smoke extractor can work all day without any problem.
The professional fan for fireplaces can be installed at any height, even on flues of 1 meter. On the other hand, the basic model of the chimney fan is recommended for chimneys over 3 m high.
No, the chimney fan does not plug the smoke outlet if it is switched off. For this reason it is possible to switch on the chimney fan only in certain situations, for example when raising the stove door or in case of strong wind.
