Electric Fence PolyWire 6 Mm²

The 6 mm² polywire is Gemi Elettronica's heaviest-duty conductor, engineered for electric fences that must physically resist as well as electrically deter. Eight stainless steel and copper conductor strands inside a thick UV-stabilised sheath deliver the cross-section's defining characteristic: a wire that stops wild boar and large deer not only through the electric pulse but through the sheer mechanical resistance of the conductor itself under repeated impact. The 6 mm² polywire is the heaviest-duty conductor in the Gemi range and the specified choice for wild boar exclusion fences across Continental Europe. Available in 100 m to 500 m coils for immediate UK dispatch at factory prices.

Wild boar and large wildlife exclusion

Wild boar exclusion is one of the most demanding applications in electric fencing. Boar approach fences at full charge, exert considerable upward pressure with the snout and test the wire repeatedly if the pulse intensity is insufficient. The 6 mm² conductor maintains circuit continuity even under this physical stress, while the eight-strand construction ensures that pulse voltage at the end of a long perimeter fence remains high enough to deter further testing after the initial contact.

Large ruminant containment

For cattle and horses in situations where a 4 mm² wire has proved insufficient — particularly high-stocking-density dairy units or stallion paddocks — the 6 mm² cross-section provides additional mechanical tensile strength that maintains correct fence tension between posts over long spans without excessive intermediate support. The low electrical resistance of eight conductors also reduces energiser power demand, extending battery life in 12V installations.

UV-stabilised sheath — multi-season service life

The outer jacket incorporates high-concentration UV stabilisers that prevent the cracking and embrittlement that would expose the conductor strands to corrosion in exposed outdoor conditions. Gemi tests sheath flexibility retention across simulated multi-year UV exposure cycles before releasing conductor specifications to production.

Questions and Answers
The Gemi electric fence - 100% Made in Italy - is used to ward off wild animals such as wild boars, deer, foxes, etc. The purpose of electric fences is to protect the territory from unsightly invasions. It is also used to contain animals such as cows, sheep, pigs etc. It has nothing to do with hunting. We have all the legal certificates available to produce and sell electric fences. This is the only legal solution for those who want to protect their plantations.
The electric fence for animals is neither dangerous for people nor for animals. As with everything, even for electric fences there is a standard that establishes the values to be respected. The fence energiser is a product that emits intermittent pulses with a low amperage.
To create an electric fence for animals you need: a Gemi energiser - 100% Made in Italy - for fences that carries the current to the fence, an electrified conductor wire for the fence and insulators for electrified fences screwed on the posts to hold the wire.
Grounding is a fundamental thing for the functionality of the electric fence for animals, so it is recommended to do it correctly. To have the total discharge of current by the energiser, it is necessary to make the grounding by inserting 3 galvanized poles of 1 meter in the ground. They must be positioned 3 meters apart, 80 cm in the wet ground and 20 cm outside, and then connect them with the yellow cable. Together with the electric fence, we supply only 1 meter of cable that must be connected to the first pole. It is recommended to do it where there is the presence of vegetation, therefore a moist soil. Arid soil is not conductive. According to the tests carried out, placing 3 poles in any type of terrain, there will be no problem with functionality. If you put only one stake, the power of the current felt will be less than its range and the animals will be able to cross the fence.
For a B12 energiser it is sufficient to use a 12V 40Ah car battery. The autonomy, if there is no dispersion in the electric fence, is about 10/12 days. Otherwise it lasts less.
If the current is far from the electric fence, for your Gemi energiser - 100% Made in Italy -, we have the high-voltage crossing cable that can work on the surface or underground, without discharging. With this cable it is possible to carry current on the fence, without any dispersion. The cable for electric fences can also be used to join two fences, then connect one end to a first fence and the other end to a second fence, when there is little distance between one fence and another.
To check if there is current on the electric fence for animals, just bring the tip of a screwdriver with an insulated handle a few mm away from the fence wire. The moment you hear a ticking, it means that there is current on the electric fence.
An energizer cannot be kept outdoors. It must be kept indoors to prevent damage from the weather. In order to discharge all its current, it must be earthed by inserting 3 galvanized 1 meter stakes into the ground. They must be placed 3 m apart, 80 cm in the ground (wet) and 20 cm outside, and then connected with the yellow-green cable. The device has a red positive cable at its output which is connected to the fence and a yellow-green cable which is connected to the first ground stake. Never connect two electrifiers to the same wire, as the two impulses may cancel each other out, causing problems. You can connect two electrifiers to the same fence, but keep them on two separate lines of wire.
